In a heartwarming and culturally rich ceremony, Nigerian music legend Innocent “2Baba” Idibia took a significant step in his personal life by formally introducing his fiancée, Honourable Natasha Osawaru, to his roots.
The celebrated artist chose the grand setting of the Idoma Nation Peace and Unity Symposium to make the announcement, an event held at the Och’Idoma Palace in Otukpo, Benue State.
Dressed in elegant traditional Idoma regalia, 2Baba stood proudly beside Osawaru, who once served as the Deputy Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, as he presented her to His Royal Majesty, the Och’Idoma V, and a distinguished gathering of Idoma elders and dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering with a blend of humility and emotion, 2Baba said, “This is more than just tradition—it is my way of showing respect to my people, to our customs, and to the woman who has brought peace and inspiration into my life.”
The ceremony at the palace was both a cultural affirmation and a public declaration of his intentions, garnering applause and heartfelt prayers from those in attendance.
Osawaru, poised and visibly honored, responded with grace, stating, “It is a privilege to be welcomed with such warmth. I look forward to walking this journey with respect, love, and a deep appreciation for Idoma heritage.”
Following the official introduction at the palace, 2Baba led his bride-to-be to his ancestral hometown of Okpokwu, where another round of traditional rites and introductions awaited.
There, he met with elders and members of the community, offering kola nuts and palm wine in accordance with local customs. “These are my people,” 2Baba said during the visit, “and I can’t begin this next chapter without their blessing.
Natasha is not just coming into my life—she’s coming into our family, into our story.” The elders, visibly touched by the artist’s reverence for tradition, offered words of counsel, blessing the union and welcoming Osawaru with open arms.
This traditional unveiling comes on the heels of a viral video in which 2Baba openly declared his love for Osawaru, shortly after making headlines with the announcement of his separation from longtime partner and actress, Annie Idibia.
In the video, he described Natasha as “a young, brilliant, and amazing woman,” emphasizing the fresh start he envisions with her. Though his personal life has often been under public scrutiny, this carefully orchestrated and respectful gesture seems to signal a desire for peace, continuity, and cultural grounding.
