Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has finally broken his silence over the dramatic missing persons report filed by his mother just weeks ago.

The incident sparked widespread concern after his mother reportedly contacted the Department of State Services (DSS), claiming that the family had been unable to reach or locate the singer. Though 2Baba had been spotted at various public events following the report, many fans remained confused by the situation—until now.

Addressing the controversy with his signature humor and calm demeanor, the singer set the record straight during a recent performance.

While performing at a comedy show hosted by comedian Acapella, 2Baba playfully addressed the rumors about his alleged disappearance. “Allegedly I have been missing. Allegedly I have been kidnapped,” he told the amused audience. “So as we come Acapella show, this show is to generate money for the kidnappers to release me.”

His tongue-in-cheek comments were met with laughter, but they also served to publicly confirm that he was neither missing nor in danger, despite his mother’s serious concerns. The singer did not offer further details about the misunderstanding, but his statement was enough to put many speculations to rest.

Much of the public curiosity has centered around 2Baba’s relationship with his new partner, Natasha Osawaru. Their romance has attracted both admiration and skepticism, especially after the missing persons saga unfolded.

Natasha, in her own response to the rumors, made it clear that 2Baba was with her of his own volition. “He’s a grown man. He made his choice. He came to me,” she said in a recent interview.

She also addressed the widely circulated claims about a mysterious bead the singer has been wearing, brushing off allegations of any spiritual manipulation. “That bead is not diabolical,” she insisted. “People are just looking for drama where there is none.”

Despite public criticism and media gossip, 2Baba and Natasha have continued to appear together at events and social outings, presenting a united front. Their visible closeness, however, has only fueled further discussion online and offline.

Recently, popular comedian Justice Nuagbe, better known as Ushbebe, weighed in on the situation with a mix of concern and sarcasm. In a widely shared video, Ushbebe called for “national prayers” for 2Baba, suggesting that the singer’s behavior was unusual and hinting at the possibility of undue influence.

“This is not our 2Baba,” he joked. “The way he follows that girl around, it’s like schoolboy love. Something no dey clear.”

As the conversations continue to swirl, 2Baba appears unfazed by the public scrutiny. Known for his calm disposition and long-standing reputation in the Nigerian music scene, the legendary artist seems more focused on living life on his own terms.

Whether the drama surrounding his disappearance and relationship will die down remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—2Baba is very much present, and still knows how to command a stage, whether with music or with a dose of humor.
