Nigerian music legend Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, has been officially appointed as the Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach by Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State.
The announcement was made during a warm reception at the Government House in Makurdi, marking a significant collaboration between the state government and one of its most celebrated sons.
The appointment comes as a recognition of 2Face’s enduring influence, commitment to community development, and his visible support for the current administration.
Governor Hyacinth Alia, visibly pleased, personally broke the news of the appointment. Expressing his appreciation, the governor said, “Let me thank you very firstly for supporting my administration and for proclaiming me for 2027. I feel it will not be out of place at all, because you are a guru of entertainment. Once you say ‘2Face’ people start dancing, even without you singing.”
The governor emphasized the importance of using 2Face’s popularity and experience to reach the grassroots, inspire the youth, and further the state’s social development agenda.
Continuing his remarks, Governor Alia highlighted the strategic value 2Face brings to the table.
“Given your experience and influence, we believe you can help us impact more lives positively. So we are happy you’re here. On behalf of the state government and our very good people, I want to give you some more responsibility, plus the ones you have been doing, because you have the capacity to do some more and help us chart the way forward to improve other people’s lives and to gain more from your wisdom and advisement as well,” he said.
The governor then formally declared, “So I’m pleased to announce that we will make you a technical advisor to the governor on entertainment and community outreach.”
2Face, a proud son of Okpokwu Local Government Area in the Benue South Senatorial District, has long maintained a close relationship with his home state, often advocating for peace, unity, and youth empowerment through his foundation and musical projects.
His latest appointment reinforces his standing not just as a musical icon, but also as a respected community figure with a growing role in governance and social development.
Earlier in the week, 2Face also made headlines for a significant personal milestone. On April 21, 2025, during the Idoma Nation Peace and Unity Symposium held at the Och’Idoma Palace in Otukpo, he formally introduced his fiancée, Hon. Natasha Osawaru, to his people.
Natasha, a legislator from Edo State, was warmly welcomed by the Och’Idoma V and traditional leaders.
Clad in rich traditional Idoma attire, the couple’s presence at the palace was met with celebration and support, as 2Face proudly presented his bride-to-be in line with cultural traditions.
Following the introduction at the palace, the couple traveled to Okpokwu, where they met with elders and community members.
During this visit, 2Face reaffirmed his love and commitment to Natasha and respectfully sought the blessings of his kinsmen.
The visit, steeped in tradition and cultural pride, reflected his deep-rooted connection to his heritage, even as he continues to soar as a global figure.
With his recent engagement and political appointment, 2Face’s year is shaping up to be both personally and professionally transformative.
