In a video shared on his Instagram page on January 29, 2024, Mercy Chinwo’s former manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, popularly known as Eezeetee, denied ever threatening or intimidating the award-winning gospel singer.
His response comes after Mercy Chinwo took to her Instagram page to accuse him of bullying and attempting to destroy her reputation. The singer further alleged that Eezeetee held a vendetta against her simply because she refused to side with him in his disputes against other influential figures in the gospel music industry.
Reacting to the allegations, Eezeetee firmly dismissed the claims, stating that he neither bullied nor threatened Mercy Chinwo. Instead, he insisted that it was he who had been subjected to unjust treatment, including attacks on his character and integrity.
According to him, despite enduring numerous challenges, he had chosen to remain silent until now. In his video caption, he revealed that even when Mercy Chinwo allegedly tried to use the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against him, he refrained from speaking out, opting instead to seek legal avenues to protect his rights.
“Even in the face of injustice, I chose silence,” Eezeetee stated. “When you involved the EFCC to detain me, I remained silent. When I sought resolution through the Multidoor Court, I remained silent. Even when I filed a lawsuit to protect my human rights and prevent further harassment, I still chose silence.”
He went on to claim that despite his silence, Mercy Chinwo allegedly manipulated the legal system to obtain a bench warrant against him, which was then made public on a global scale.
According to Eezeetee, the situation was no longer just about him but about fairness, transparency, and standing up against what he termed as unjust actions:
“This is not just about me—it’s about transparency, fairness, and standing up against unjust actions. Sometimes, silence is mistaken for weakness, but let me assure you, truth always prevails. Facts are stubborn,” he said. His statement suggested that he was now ready to fight back against what he perceived as false accusations and a misrepresentation of events.
Further addressing the issue, Eezeetee, who owns EeZee Concepts, the record label to which Mercy Chinwo was previously signed, stated that he had made several attempts to resolve the dispute amicably.
He disclosed that he reached out to respected pastors within the Christian community, hoping they could mediate and facilitate a peaceful resolution. However, his efforts, he claimed, were unsuccessful as the singer remained uncooperative.
In addition to his personal statements, Eezeetee shared a legal statement from his lawyers, Maxwell Opara & Associates. The legal team accused Mercy Chinwo of refusing to undergo a mutual independent audit of financial transactions related to their working relationship.
They further alleged that the singer inflated her booking fees by over 300% while blaming the label for the increased costs. The legal statement questioned her refusal to submit financial records for review, implying that she had something to hide.
“All the allegations are false! Why are the allegations shifting?” the legal statement read:
“In all your statements and correspondences, you have never accepted to submit yourself to a mutual independent financial audit for the period the booking line was with you. Did you divert funds or not? Did you independently inflate your booking fees by over 300% then and blame it on the label?” The accusations suggested that Mercy Chinwo’s public allegations were a diversionary tactic to shift attention away from her own financial dealings.
The ongoing dispute between Eezeetee and Mercy Chinwo has continued to unfold in the past few weeks, with both sides trading accusations over contractual obligations and financial transparency.
What initially seemed like a private fallout has now escalated into a highly publicized controversy, drawing attention from fans and industry stakeholders alike. While Mercy Chinwo has alleged mistreatment and threats, Eezeetee maintains that he is the true victim of an orchestrated smear campaign.
