Kanye West has made a startling revelation about his past relationship with Kim Kardashian, shedding light on his regrets and frustrations.
In a candid new interview, the 47-year-old rapper opened up about the early days of their romance and how his perspective on their marriage has evolved over time. His remarks have since sparked widespread discussion, with many analyzing his words for deeper meaning.
During the interview, podcast host DJ Akademiks confronted Kanye about his choice to be with Kim. “When you speak about Kim, people might be like, ‘Well, you picked her. You put yourself in that,’” Akademiks pointed out in a video posted to X. Without hesitation, Kanye took full accountability for his decision.
“Absolutely, I did. That was my fault. No, that was my fault,” he admitted. Notably, Kanye made this statement while dressed in a black Ku Klux Klan outfit, a controversial choice that further fueled online reactions.
Kanye continued to express his regret, revealing that he had second thoughts early on in their relationship. “I didn’t want to have children with this person after the first two months of being with them,” he confessed. “But that wasn’t God’s plan.”
Despite his initial reservations, Kanye and Kim went on to marry in 2014 and stayed together for nearly a decade before finalizing their divorce in 2022. Together, they share four children: North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5.
Beyond his personal regrets, Kanye also touched on his ongoing legal and parental disputes with Kim. He voiced his frustration over Kim’s decision to trademark their children’s names without his approval.
A recent disagreement between the former couple arose when Kim reportedly blocked Kanye from releasing a song titled “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine,” which featured their daughter North and Sean “Diddy” Combs. Despite Kim’s objections, Kanye ultimately went ahead with the song’s release.
“When my daughter was put on the song, that’s when I realized that I didn’t own their name and likeness,” Kanye explained. “I don’t have at least 50-50 with my kids, so how is it joint custody? My kids are celebrities, and I don’t have a say.” This revelation has fueled concerns among his supporters about parental rights and the influence of celebrity status on children’s lives.
Kanye further elaborated on his frustrations, particularly regarding the Kardashian family’s role in shaping his children’s upbringing. “This white woman and this white family have the control of these highly influential Black kids that are half the kids of Ye, and that’s just in everybody’s face,” he said. “They play in my face like that.”
His remarks highlighted a long-standing concern about racial identity and power dynamics in his children’s lives, an issue he has publicly addressed multiple times before.
As the interview progressed, Kanye did not hold back his animosity towards Kim and her family, making it clear that he sees their ongoing battles as more than just personal disagreements. “It’s war! They think they’re too powerful,” he declared, signaling that he has no intention of backing down.
Additionally, he questioned Kim’s motivations regarding their children, suggesting that her decisions were driven more by fame and financial gain than by genuine parental concern. “When you’re a celebrity, it starts to be about more what fame it’s going to get you, what clout it’s going to get you, what money it’s going to get you over, ‘Is this the right thing for your children?’” he pondered.
Despite the tension between them, Kim has previously stated that she wants to maintain a positive co-parenting relationship with Kanye.
She has emphasized that, regardless of their conflicts, she believes in creating a healthy environment for their children. “There will always be good vibes,” she previously said, signaling her intent to foster peace despite their public disputes.
However, with Kanye’s latest statements, it remains uncertain whether any reconciliation between them is possible in the near future.
