Nigerian musicians Portable and Speed Darlington are preparing for an explosive showdown this April, with fans eagerly anticipating a celebrity boxing match that promises to settle their ongoing feud.
The two entertainers, who have been embroiled in a war of words for some time, are set to face off in the ring on the evening of Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Balmoral Convention Center. This highly publicized event has sparked intense interest among their supporters, as it will determine who comes out on top in their battle for street supremacy.
The match is poised to be one of the most talked-about events in the Nigerian entertainment scene, with both musicians known for their larger-than-life personalities and public altercations.
The feud between Portable and Speed Darlington began when Darlington, who hails from Imo State, invited Portable to perform at his upcoming show. He offered the 31-year-old Zeh Nation boss a payment of ₦500,000 for his performance, which Portable found deeply insulting.
Born Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, Portable has never been one to shy away from expressing his thoughts, and he wasted no time in declining Darlington’s offer. The singer, known for his bold and outspoken demeanor, took to social media to mock Darlington, calling him “poor” and claiming that he charges ₦20 million per performance.
“You are inviting me to a show, and you don’t have money. You are using my name to promote your show. I charge ₦20 million, ask around,” Portable said in his response. “You’re offering me ₦500k, for what? I don’t want to be friends with poor people. I didn’t know he is that poor.”
Darlington was quick to hit back, accusing Portable of crossing a line by insulting his family. The Imo State-born musician expressed regret for ever reaching out to Portable, particularly due to the personal nature of the insults.
“Why did I bring myself low? Why did I contact Portable? I regret it because why the insults? Why did my mother get into the discussion?” Darlington said, clearly upset by the direction the argument had taken. His frustration was evident, as he felt that Portable had taken the disagreement too far by involving his mother in the exchange.
In response, Portable escalated the situation even further by challenging Darlington to a fight. He boasted that he would easily defeat him in the ring, just as he had done to actor Charles Okocha in a previous altercation.
“I want to fight you. We should both be put in a boxing ring. I will defeat you like I defeated Okocha,” Portable bragged, clearly confident in his physical abilities. His challenge was clear, and the taunt seemed to fuel the fire between the two entertainers, setting the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable showdown.
Portable’s boldness and willingness to engage in physical confrontations have only added to his controversial public image, making the upcoming match all the more intriguing.
The official announcement of the boxing match came from the event organizer, Mygamerush, who shared the details on Instagram. “You asked and now it is here. Two street king’s battle for ultimate street supremacy,” the post read, hyping up the event and heightening the anticipation.
While Portable has yet to publicly respond to the finalized match, Darlington has already started preparing for the battle. In a show of determination, he has posted videos of himself working out with a personal trainer, signaling that he is taking the fight seriously. With both stars gearing up for what is sure to be an intense and highly anticipated event, fans are bracing for a dramatic conclusion to this public rivalry.
