Shallipopi’s breakout hit single “Laho” has taken on new life with the release of a highly anticipated remix featuring Grammy-winning global superstar Burna Boy.

Titled “Laho II,” the song officially dropped on April 25, 2025, and has been met with widespread excitement and mixed reactions from fans online.

What many listeners initially believed to be a follow-up remix is, in fact, the original version, according to Burna Boy himself.

In a candid Instagram post, the African Giant set the record straight: “So after all these years y’all still don’t know me enough? If this ‘Laho’ was the remix then I’d go first lol,” he wrote, revealing the behind-the-scenes story of the track’s release.

Burna Boy further explained that “Laho II” had been recorded before Shallipopi’s solo version, but due to some clearance issues, it couldn’t be released at the intended time.

“This was actually the original version. It just couldn’t be cleared for the time he wanted to release ‘cause it clashed with other releases that had to do with me,” he shared.

As a result, Shallipopi decided to drop his version first to capitalize on the growing buzz. Now that the full version with Burna Boy is out, fans are finally getting to hear what the artist calls the real deal.

“Na the remix Shalli first drop, this is the original. Shallipopi ft Burna Boy ‘LAHO 2’ dropping today at 12am,” Burna concluded in his statement.

The remix’s release follows the massive success of the original version, which has been hailed as Afrobeats’ first global hit of 2025.

Its infectious hook and streetwise charm captured audiences across Nigeria and beyond, creating the perfect moment for Burna Boy to step in and elevate it to even greater heights.

The remix made its live debut in spectacular fashion at Burna Boy’s record-breaking Stade De France concert in Paris, where Shallipopi joined him on stage for a surprise performance.

The crowd went wild as the duo delivered an electrifying rendition of “Laho II,” instantly cementing the song’s global potential.

Following the Paris performance, the duo brought the heat again at Burna Boy’s historic Co-op Live Arena concert in Manchester.

The back-to-back stage collaborations have not only excited fans but also hinted at a growing creative synergy between the two artists.

Burna Boy’s recent string of international remix features—including his appearance on Joé Dwèt Filé’s “4 Kampé II”—shows his ongoing commitment to cross-cultural collaborations and global musical influence.

His ability to blend effortlessly with younger voices like Shallipopi’s further proves his versatility and enduring star power.

With Burna Boy’s signature swagger and global presence now attached to “Laho II,” fans and industry insiders alike are betting that the track could reach chart-topping success on international platforms.

There is also growing speculation that the remix may be included as a bonus track on Burna Boy’s upcoming eighth studio album, No Sign of Weakness.

Whether it ends up on the album or not, “Laho II” is already making waves and could mark yet another chapter in Burna Boy’s expanding legacy as Afrobeats’ foremost global ambassador.
