Nigerian TikTok sensation and live streamer, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has opened up in an emotional live session about the overwhelming weight of family responsibility he carries at just 19 years old.
Speaking during a trending TikTok Live with fellow creator Sandra Benede, Peller expressed how being the primary provider for his family has taken a toll on his mental and emotional well-being.
Despite his young age, he feels burdened by expectations that far exceed what he believes he should be dealing with. “I have not been okay for a while,” he confessed.
“There was a day I slept off in my car through the night. It is not good. I dislike what I am facing at this young age. I am not even 20 years old, yet I am experiencing these things.”
Peller admitted that although he still maintains contact with his mother through video calls, the pressure of constantly providing has made it difficult for him to feel close to his family in the same way.
He said his mindset has evolved beyond that of his parents and siblings, making physical visits feel more burdensome than comforting. “I do call my mum on video. I still called her on video yesterday,” he said.
“I do not even like to see my family again. I just want to send them things and make sure that they are also okay. Because my mentality has now surpassed staying with my parents. My thinking has surpassed theirs.”
In a particularly vulnerable moment, Peller described how he feels like a parental figure within his own family dynamic, despite having an older sibling. He explained that the financial blessings he’s received have inadvertently shifted the family’s expectations onto him.
“It now feels like I am their father and mother. I have an elder brother. I have become their parent because God blessed me. I do not rest,” he lamented, highlighting the emotional weight of taking on such a significant role while still navigating his own youth.
The popular content creator went further to reveal how the constant demands from his family have created a disconnect between him and his roots.
Instead, he said his emotional focus has now shifted entirely to his girlfriend, Jadrolita, whom he fondly refers to as Jarvis.
“If not that they will start looking for me, I would have run to America and go hide myself somewhere. I have been trying to do it, but they will be worried about me,” he said, indicating a desire to escape the growing pressures. “I no longer miss my parents. The only person I miss now is Jarvis.”
Peller’s candid statements have sparked a wave of reactions online, with many young fans resonating with his experiences of early independence and family obligations.
His vulnerability sheds light on the silent struggles of young breadwinners who feel torn between providing for their loved ones and protecting their own well-being.
As he continues to build his brand and grow in fame, Peller’s reflections raise important conversations about the emotional cost of success and the often invisible burdens shouldered by young people in the spotlight.
