James Corden has excited fans with the announcement that the hit sitcom Gavin & Stacey will return for its “last ever episode” on Christmas Day.

Corden shared the news on his Instagram, posting a picture of himself and co-creator Ruth Jones holding the script for the finale, which they have completed writing.

The caption confirmed the official return of the beloved series, inviting viewers to tune in to BBC One on Christmas Day for the special episode.

He wrote:

“Some news…It’s official!”

“We have finished writing the last ever episode of Gavin & Stacey. See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James.”

Gavin & Stacey, which originally aired in 2007 and ran for three series before returning for a special in 2019, follows the romantic journey of Gavin Shipman and Stacey West, played by Matthew Horne and Joanna Page, respectively.

Set primarily in South Wales, the comedy features memorable characters like Smithy and Nessa, portrayed by Corden and Jones, with Nessa’s catchphrase “what’s occurring?” becoming iconic.

The series boasts a talented cast including Rob Brydon, Melanie Walters, Alison Steadman, and Larry Lamb. Despite earlier denials of a Christmas Day return, the official confirmation has delighted fans eagerly awaiting the final installment of Gavin & Stacey.
