CHARACTER DESCRIPTION

Osas is a bold, outspoken female singer with raw talent and very high self-belief. She is passionate, emotional, and fiercely defensive of her artistry. Although her skills are still developing, Osas refuses to be talked down to and takes criticism personally—especially when it comes to her voice.

Think: confidence bordering on delusion, talent mixed with ego, vulnerability hidden behind fire.

PERFORMANCE NOTES

• Must convincingly portray confidence, defensiveness, and emotional volatility
• Strong presence and ability to dominate dialogue
• Comfortable delivering fast-paced, confrontational lines
• Must balance comedy with emotional sincerity
• Singing ability is a plus but not mandatory (performance matters more)

SELF-TAPE AUDITION GUIDELINES

Please read carefully before submitting your audition.

GENERAL SETUP

Camera & Framing

• Use a phone or camera in landscape mode
• Frame from mid-chest to just above the head
• Keep the camera at eye level
• Do not move the camera during the take

Lighting

• Face a natural light source or use a soft light
• Avoid harsh shadows on the face
• Do not backlight yourself

Sound

• Record in a quiet space
• Ensure your voice is clear and audible
• Avoid background music or noise

PERFORMANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Tone & Style

• This is a comedy-drama, not a skit
• Play the character truthfully, even when exaggerated
• Avoid cartoon acting — energy should feel natural but bold

Pacing

• Dialogue should feel fast-paced
• Interrupt naturally when required by the character
  

Language

• Perform in 95% English
• Add light Nigerian Pidgin only where it feels organic
• Accents should be authentic (do not overdo it)

SLATE (VERY IMPORTANT)

Before your performance, please record a 10–15 second slate:Say clearly:“Hello, my name is ___, I am auditioning for the role of ___, I’m ___ years old, based in ___.”Then pause briefly and begin your performance.
