CHARACTER DESCRIPTION

Ade is a disciplined, detail-oriented film editor who takes pride in precision and technical excellence. He believes strongly that storytelling continues in post-production and refuses to be blamed for problems caused by poor footage. Ade is calm on the surface but easily irritated when his professionalism is questioned.

• Must convincingly portray controlled frustration and technical confidence
• Ability to deliver dialogue with precision and clarity
• Comfortable handling fast-paced, interruptive exchanges

• Familiarity with film or post-production environments is a plus

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

• A 1–2 minute cold-read comedic/dramatic monologue for Ade
• Optional: a short improvised clip reacting to being blamed for bad footage
• Self-tape must begin with name, age, height, location, and acting background

Clear audio, steady framing, and good lighting are required.

Please read carefully before submitting your audition.

GENERAL SETUP

Camera & Framing

• Use a phone or camera in landscape mode
• Frame from mid-chest to just above the head
• Keep the camera at eye level
• Do not move the camera during the take

Lighting

• Face a natural light source or use a soft light
• Avoid harsh shadows on the face
• Do not backlight yourself

Sound

• Record in a quiet space
• Ensure your voice is clear and audible
• Avoid background music or noise

PERFORMANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Tone & Style

• This is a comedy-drama, not a skit
• Play the character truthfully, even when exaggerated
• Avoid cartoon acting — energy should feel natural but bold
  

Language

• Perform in 95% English
• Add light Nigerian Pidgin only where it feels organic
• Accents should be authentic (do not overdo it)

SLATE (VERY IMPORTANT)

Before your performance, please record a 10–15 second slate:Say clearly:“Hello, my name is ___, I am auditioning for the role of ___, I’m ___ years old, based in ___.”Then pause briefly and begin your performance.
