Nollywood actor Adeniyi Johnson has recounted a terrifying encounter he recently experienced on the streets of Lagos, sparking renewed concerns about the city’s security situation.

Taking to his Instagram page, the actor detailed how he was suddenly attacked by a group of suspected thugs shortly after descending from the Third Mainland Bridge, near the Alapere axis, while heading towards the Magodo area.

The incident, according to him, unfolded in a matter of seconds, leaving him shaken and deeply worried.

In his post, Adeniyi Johnson painted a vivid picture of the chaos that ensued. “It all happened within 15 seconds,” he began.

“I heard a big bang on my windshield, and the next thing I saw were three thugs all over my car!”

He explained that the attackers quickly focused on his vehicle, one shouting, “Yo mirror e” (remove the mirror), while another yelled, “Fo glass e” (break the windshield).

The sudden and violent nature of the attack left him struggling to comprehend the situation as he tried to protect himself.

The actor attributed the attack to a traffic obstruction caused by two slow-moving trailers that were occupying the entire road without maintaining their lanes.

“All these happened because of two mumu trailers with smoke occupying the whole road and not driving on their lanes!” he explained, emphasizing that the chaotic traffic situation made it impossible for him to escape the ambush in time.

His attempt to maneuver around the trailers unfortunately led him directly into the hands of the attackers.

Johnson’s post also highlighted his frustration with the current state of security in Lagos. He criticized the over-reliance on “stop-and-search” operations that often involve officers casually asking motorists for money rather than actively securing the roads.

“Lagos needs better security than those stop and search that ask, ‘Oga, how weekend? Anything for us?’ This is not how we stay safe,” he lamented.

His words echoed the concerns of many residents who have experienced similar security lapses in the bustling city.

Fortunately, the actor confirmed that while his vehicle sustained some damage, he was physically unharmed. Sharing a picture of the damage done to his car’s windshield, he expressed his gratitude to God for protecting him.

“The only damage done is the last slide!! God is God. Ekule,” he concluded, warning his followers to stay alert and be vigilant while navigating Lagos’s often unpredictable roads.
