Nigerian legendary music producer and label head ID Cabasa has released a remake of the classic hit song “Olufunmi,” featuring Joeboy, Fireboy, Boj, and Odumodublvck. Titled “Olufunmi Reimagined,” the track pays homage to the original while incorporating contemporary Afrobeat sounds.

ID Cabasa skillfully blends the nostalgic melodies of Styl-Plus with modern rhythms, creating a bridge between generations.

Released on May 24, 2024, the single includes new verses from Fireboy, Odumodublvck, Boj, and Joeboy, while retaining the original chorus from the 2006 hit off Styl-Plus’ debut album “Expressions.”

The release is accompanied by a music video shot by renowned Nigerian cinematographer Clarence Peters.

The video, inspired by the original, features the artists competing for the attention of the same woman, who ultimately chooses ID Cabasa.

“Olufunmi Reimagined” follows ID Cabasa’s previous remake of 9ice’s “Photocopy,” featuring rapper Vector.

In an interview with the Afrobeats Podcast hosted by Adesope, ID Cabasa revealed plans to release a new album in 2024, which will feature a star-studded lineup of artists reimagining classic Nigerian songs.
