Nollywood actresses Genoveva Umeh and Uche Montana have been nominated for the 18th edition of The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) Prize for Acting.

Umeh, a British-Nigerian actress, gained prominence for her role in Nigeria’s first Netflix original crime thriller series Blood Sisters and won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for her performance in the Prime Video Original, Breath of Life.

Montana, a seasoned actress, has featured in numerous films such as The Betrayed, Wedding Night Blues, A Silent Intruder, Seven, and Banana Island Ghost. Both actresses are recognized for their contributions to the Nigerian film industry and their compelling on-screen performances.

Other nominees in the acting category include Jblaze Onyegbile, Mike Afolarin, and Kayode Ojuolape. Onyegbile is known for his role in the movie House of Ga’a and the series Assistant Madams. Afolarin, a rapidly rising star, has made his mark with roles in Netflix’s House of Ga’a and Far From Home, as well as Prime Video’s Water and Garri.

Ojuolape has been recognized for his work in the films Leaked and Ijogbon. These actors have been commended for their talent and their ability to deliver powerful and captivating performances that continue to elevate the standards of African cinema.

The Future Awards Africa is a platform that celebrates young achievers between the ages of 18 and 31 who have made significant contributions in various fields during the year. In an official announcement, the TFAA organizers unveiled the nominees for this year’s edition, highlighting their outstanding achievements.

The acting category, featuring dynamic talents like Umeh, Montana, Onyegbile, Afolarin, and Ojuolape, showcases individuals who are pushing the boundaries of storytelling and captivating audiences with their performances in Nollywood and beyond.

This year’s TFAA is themed ‘Celebrating the Great and Daring’ and includes 23 categories covering a wide range of fields such as education, law, professional service, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology, photography, acting, and music.

The nominees in these categories represent the most inspiring young talents who have demonstrated excellence and innovation in their respective industries.

Through this recognition, TFAA aims to inspire more young people to pursue their passions and contribute to the growth and development of Africa.
