ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus, the 79-year-old member of the legendary pop group ABBA, has married his partner Christina Sas in a private ceremony. The event was officiated by comedian and broadcaster Sandi Toksvig, who is known for hosting the BBC show QI.

The wedding took place in Copenhagen, surrounded by close friends and family. Ulvaeus, who has been married twice before, met Sas in Nuremberg, Germany, in 2021 during the promotion of ABBA’s final album, Voyage.

They began dating in the spring of 2022, and their relationship has now culminated in marriage, as Ulvaeus shared on his Instagram page.

The post on Ulvaeus’s Instagram included several photographs from the wedding, featuring him in a suit, Sas in a green wrap dress, and Toksvig in striking red robes.

The ceremony was described as intimate and joyful, with Toksvig’s presence adding a unique touch. Gyles Brandreth, a broadcaster and friend of the couple, also shared his excitement on social media.

He mentioned that he had enjoyed meeting Ulvaeus and Sas for his Rosebud podcast and praised Toksvig for making the ceremony “extra special.” Toksvig’s friendship with Ulvaeus dates back to their collaboration on Mamma Mia: The Party! in 2018, which further highlights their close bond.

Ulvaeus’s history with ABBA has been marked by remarkable achievements. The group recently celebrated 50 years since their historic victory at the Eurovision Song Contest with their hit “Waterloo.”

ABBA, formed by two couples—Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog, and Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad—became one of the world’s most successful bands.

Despite their immense success, both couples experienced personal challenges, leading to divorces in the early 1980s. The band eventually split in 1982, and despite numerous reunions and events celebrating their legacy, the members have not performed together since.

Ulvaeus’s personal life has been as eventful as his career. He married his ABBA bandmate Agnetha Fältskog in 1971, and they had two children, Linda and Peter, before divorcing in 1980. Following the band’s split, Ulvaeus married Lena Kallersjo in 1981.

They were together for over four decades, raising two daughters before announcing their separation in 2022. This new chapter in Ulvaeus’s life with Christina Sas seems to mark a fresh beginning for the musician, who has continued to enjoy a vibrant personal and professional life even after his time with ABBA.

The wedding of Björn Ulvaeus and Christina Sas has garnered attention not just because of Ulvaeus’s celebrity status but also due to the involvement of notable personalities like Sandi Toksvig.

The ceremony was a testament to the enduring friendships and relationships that Ulvaeus has built over the years, transcending his career in music. It also reflects his ability to find new joy and companionship later in life.

As ABBA’s legacy continues to influence music and culture worldwide, Ulvaeus’s personal story adds a human touch to the larger-than-life narrative of the band.
