John Alford, a former actor known for his roles in “London’s Burning” and “Grange Hill,” is set to face trial over charges of sex offences involving a girl under 16.

The 52-year-old, charged under his real name John Shannon, is accused of four counts of sexual activity with a child and two additional charges related to a second female involving sexual assault and assault by penetration.

Alford, who resides in Holloway, north London, has denied all charges at a plea hearing in September last year, according to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

A pre-trial review hearing is scheduled for 18 November at St Albans Crown Court, with the trial set to begin on 2 December at the same court, expected to last seven days. Alford gained fame as a teenager for his role as Robbie Wright in the BBC drama “Grange Hill,” which he played for five years.

His most notable role was in “London’s Burning,” an ITV drama about firefighters in the capital, where he portrayed Billy Ray from 1993 to 1998.
