Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde recently underwent emergency surgery to remove her gallbladder after enduring months of debilitating abdominal pain and other related symptoms.
The actress, who has graced the Nigerian movie industry with her talent for decades, opened up about her challenging health journey on Instagram, expressing deep gratitude for her recovery.
Her account detailed the intense symptoms she faced, the medical uncertainties, and the eventual resolution through surgery.
Omotola shared a heartfelt video documenting her experience, including moments before and after the procedure.
Clips included glimpses of her time in the hospital, as well as an emotional video call with her husband. In her post, she reflected on the tough period, recounting how at one point, doctors told her there was little more they could do to manage her condition.
Despite the grim prognosis, she held on to hope and faith, ultimately making it through the ordeal with renewed appreciation for life and health.
Her post began with a heartfelt Thanksgiving message: “Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁🦃🍽 Please join me as I thank God for Life and Good Health.” She went on to describe the difficulties she faced in the weeks leading up to her surgery.
Omotola recounted the pain she endured, which often left her unable to sit upright, and the uncertainty of her medical visits as doctors attempted to diagnose the cause of her symptoms.
From back and chest pain to debilitating acid reflux, her condition seemed to baffle her healthcare providers at first.
The actress shared how she was rushed to the emergency room twice in a single week due to unbearable pain. After several rounds of treatment and tests, she was sent home with instructions to manage her symptoms.
Although the pain temporarily subsided, it returned with greater intensity, leaving her unable to perform her daily activities.
Even during the premiere of a highly anticipated film, Omotola could barely endure the discomfort, ultimately forgoing conversations with industry icons like Denzel Washington and Ridley Scott to seek medical help.
Her condition worsened overnight after the premiere. She described a harrowing night of relentless vomiting until there was nothing left to throw up.
The next morning, she was struck by excruciating stomach pain, prompting a third visit to the emergency room. This time, doctors conducted a thorough investigation, including a CT scan, ultrasound, and MRI.
The results revealed that her gallbladder was severely dilated, a condition that required immediate surgical intervention.
Omotola shared the shock she felt upon learning how dire her condition was. The doctors were surprised she wasn’t in even more pain given the state of her gallbladder.
They acted swiftly, and the surgery was successfully performed to remove the affected organ. Reflecting on the experience, the actress expressed immense gratitude to God and the medical team who worked tirelessly to ensure her recovery.
Through her post, Omotola highlighted the importance of listening to one’s body and seeking prompt medical care when symptoms persist.
