Afrobeats sensation Adekunle Gold has voiced his concerns about the current state of the Nigerian music industry, lamenting that it is being mismanaged by individuals who lack genuine knowledge or passion for the craft.

According to him, the industry is being shaped by people who have no business leading conversations about music, leaving artists, producers, and other creatives struggling to be heard. He believes that these outsiders are not only misrepresenting the industry but also stifling the growth of real talent.

The singer pointed out that the dominance of the wrong voices has led to the promotion of misleading narratives that fail to reflect the realities of the music business. Instead of prioritizing artistic quality and innovation, he argued, the industry is increasingly driven by individuals who neither create nor understand music but have somehow positioned themselves as gatekeepers. As a result, those with genuine talent are being sidelined while mediocrity continues to flourish.

Taking to his X handle, Adekunle Gold did not hold back his frustration, stating, “People who have no business leading music conversations are now controlling and destroying the industry. Artists, producers, and real contributors are being overshadowed by people who don’t create, don’t understand, and don’t respect the craft.”

His statement reflects a growing sentiment among many artists who feel that the music scene is being dictated by individuals with little regard for the hard work that goes into making quality music.

He further emphasized the consequences of allowing the wrong people to shape the industry’s direction. “When the wrong people lead the conversation, they push the wrong narratives. That’s why real talent is overlooked, and mediocrity thrives. Congratulations to everyone involved,” he added sarcastically.

His words have sparked conversations among fans and industry insiders, with many echoing his concerns about the increasing commercialization and dilution of Afrobeats.
