Adele has announced that she will take an indefinite break from music after concluding her Las Vegas residency later this year. The singer shared the news with fans following the end of her Munich residency, where she expressed deep gratitude for the past three years of performing, the longest continuous period of live shows in her career.

She emphasized that after her final 10 shows in Las Vegas, she plans to take a significant break and will not be performing for a considerable amount of time. Adele acknowledged the emotional impact of this decision, stating that she would cherish the memories of these shows and hold them close to her heart during her hiatus.

Adele reflected on the importance of this break, noting that she has spent the past seven years building a new life for herself and now wants to fully live it. While she will miss her fans dearly, she feels it is necessary to step away and rest after such an intense period of performing.

The Munich residency, which marked her first performance in mainland Europe since 2016, was a significant milestone, and she described the experience as something she would hold dear forever.

Her Las Vegas residency, which began in November 2022, will conclude with a final stretch of 10 shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace from October 25 to November 23. By the end of this run, Adele will have completed 100 shows, despite some challenges, including rescheduled dates and adjustments.

The residency has been a major commitment, and Adele has expressed how much she has enjoyed it, but also how much she needs a break after such a demanding schedule.

Her words:

“I’ve really enjoyed performing … it’s been three years now, which is the longest I’ve done and probably the longest I’ll ever do. But I have 10 shows left after this, back in my (Las Vegas) residency … but after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time and I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break,

“And I will fantasise about these shows and any shows that I’ve done over the last three years, and I’ll really, really hold them in the bottom of my heart forever. It has been amazing, I just need a rest.

“I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it now. I want to live the life that I’ve been building and I will miss you terribly.”

This decision to take a break is consistent with previous statements Adele has made about stepping away from music and performing. In a July interview with German outlet ZDF, she mentioned her desire to focus on other creative pursuits during her hiatus, indicating that she has no immediate plans for new music.

Adele expressed a longing to explore different avenues creatively and to take a substantial break from the music industry after completing her residency.

Adele’s announcement marks a significant moment in her career, as she prepares to take a step back from the spotlight to enjoy the life she has been building over the past several years.

Fans will have to wait a long time before seeing her perform again, but she reassured them that the memories of her recent shows will remain with her during her time away. This break represents a new chapter for Adele, one where she can rest and explore other facets of her creativity.
