Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary actor, recently acquired a 10,000 square foot land parcel in Alibaug, Maharashtra, near Mumbai, for ₹10 crore from The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL). This transaction, completed last week, adds to Bachchan’s real estate portfolio, further establishing his presence in the luxury property market.

The plot is part of a project named A Alibaug, a 20-acre plotted development launched in April last year.

This isn’t Bachchan’s first venture with the developer. He previously purchased a land parcel in Ayodhya from the same builder for its project The Sarayu, a 7-star mixed-use enclave. The Ayodhya plot, valued at ₹14.5 crore, is intended for building a home.

Alibaug has gained popularity among high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) as a prime real estate destination due to its proximity to Mumbai, developed infrastructure, and scenic coastal landscape, attracting demand for luxury retreats and investment opportunities.

In 2023, Bachchan and his wife, Jaya Bachchan, gifted their daughter Shweta Nanda the Pratiksha bungalow, the first of their five family homes in Juhu. Pratiksha holds historical significance as the couple’s first bungalow purchased after the success of the iconic film “Sholay” in 1975.

Other properties owned by the Bachchan family in Juhu include Janak bungalow, utilized as an office, and two other bungalows, Vatsa and Ammu. In 2021, Bachchan sold the Sopaan bungalow in New Delhi’s Gulmohar Park for ₹23 crore to Avni Bader, CEO of Nezone group of companies.

This property, registered in Teji Bachchan’s name, holds sentimental value as the residence of Bachchan’s parents before they relocated to Pratiksha.
