Will Ferrell has joined the ranks of celebrities investing in Leeds United, becoming a stakeholder in the Championship club’s owners, 49ers Enterprises.
The Hollywood actor, renowned for comedic roles in films like “Elf” and “Anchorman,” now shares ownership with stars like Russell Crowe and Michael Phelps, as well as golfers Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.
Ferrell’s interest in English football was evident during his recent six-day trip to watch matches across the country, including a visit to Manchester City’s game against Aston Villa and a National League match between Wrexham and Wealdstone.
Having already co-owned Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC, Ferrell’s investment in Leeds United underscores his growing involvement in the world of sports ownership.

The Welsh club Wrexham, owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, has similarly garnered international attention, with recent promotions and the success of the Disney+ documentary series “Welcome To Wrexham.”
Meanwhile, Leeds United’s recent loss to Southampton dashed their hopes of automatic promotion to the Premier League, setting the stage for a playoff bid. Despite the setback, the team under Daniel Farke’s leadership remains determined to secure a spot in the top tier, with a crucial semi-final clash against Norwich City looming on the horizon.
With Ferrell’s backing and the support of other high-profile investors, Leeds United aims to navigate the playoffs and achieve their long-awaited return to the Premier League.
