Asake’s third album, Lungu Boy, released on August 9, 2024, has achieved remarkable success, reaching No. 2 on the US Apple Music chart just hours after its release.
This achievement ties Asake with Burna Boy and Davido for the highest-charting Nigerian album on the platform. The album also soared to No. 1 on the Apple Music UK Chart, marking the third time Asake has reached this milestone, following his previous albums Mr. Money With The Vibe and Work of Art. Lungu Boy features collaborations with prominent artists like Wizkid, Travis Scott, and Stormzy, further enhancing its global appeal.
The album’s release comes just before Asake’s Lungu Boy tour, which includes performances at iconic venues such as London’s O2 Arena and New York’s Madison Square Garden.
This tour will make Asake the fourth Nigerian artist to headline at Madison Square Garden, underscoring his rising international stature. In just three years, Asake has released three albums, each contributing to his rapid rise as a defining figure in contemporary music.
His debut album, Mr. Money With The Vibe, won Album of the Year at the 2023 Headies Awards, while his second album, Work of Art, produced the record-setting hit single “Lonely At The Top,” which became the longest-charting song on the TurnTable Top 100.
