Former Big Brother Naija star Uriel Oputa has candidly expressed that she cannot date Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy.

In a now-viral video, the reality TV star did not shy away from admitting her admiration for the Grammy-winning musician but was quick to clarify that her admiration does not extend to romantic interest.

“I can’t date Burna Boy. I will only want to cook for him because I don’t have the liver,” Uriel declared, laughing but maintaining a serious tone.

Uriel went on to explain that her decision is rooted in self-awareness, particularly regarding her values and expectations in a relationship.

“If I enter a relationship, I want to be the only woman. No competition, no drama,” she stated, her voice firm.

She further emphasized that she knows herself well enough to understand that Burna Boy’s fame and success would inevitably invite attention from other women — a situation she has no interest in navigating.

The reality star also highlighted the weight of Burna Boy’s high-profile dating history as another reason she would never consider dating him.

“He will make me cry. I can’t compete with other women like Chloe Bailey, Stefflon Don,” she confessed, listing some of Burna Boy’s famous exes.

Uriel described herself as a “simple person” whose best offering in a relationship is her well-prepared home-cooked meals. “The only thing I can offer him is home-cooked food,” she said with a resigned smile.

Uriel’s remarks come in the wake of Burna Boy’s much-publicized relationships. The Afrobeats star was last romantically linked to American singer Chloe Bailey.

Their relationship, which made headlines after being confirmed in February 2025, ended controversially, just a few months after it began.

Before Chloe, Burna was in a long-term relationship with British rapper Stefflon Don from 2018 to 2022, a relationship that was also the subject of much public scrutiny.

However, Uriel made it clear that her stance on Burna Boy is not about insecurity but rather her desire for peace of mind.

“I don’t want to be in a situation where I am constantly worried or competing. That’s not for me,” she added. Her comments have since sparked discussions online, with many commending her honesty and self-awareness.

For Uriel, love is not about fame or glamour but about authenticity and simplicity.

Beyond the Burna Boy conversation, Uriel opened up about her hopes for her own love life.

“I hope to settle down in the next two years,” she revealed, though she emphasized that timing and compatibility are key.

“It has to be the right person. I’m not in a rush, but I’m also not playing games,” she stated, showing a clear sense of direction in her love journey.

While Uriel’s remarks have sparked a range of reactions online, they also shed light on her personality — a woman who knows what she wants, understands her limitations, and is unafraid to stand by her values.

Whether cooking for Burna Boy or finding her own perfect match, Uriel has shown that she is unapologetically herself.
