“Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju),” the latest Yoruba epic film which graced Nigerian cinemas, has made a significant mark by grossing ₦101.2 million within five days of its release. FilmOne Entertainment, the film’s distributor, announced this achievement on April 4, 2024, expressing gratitude to the Nigerian audience for their trust.

The film also garnered ₦63.2 million during its opening weekend, surpassing the record for the biggest weekend earnings of any Nollywood film released that year and even outshining the Hollywood blockbuster “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” Despite CEAN’s delay in releasing first-week gross performance data, “Beast of Two Worlds” has already proven its commercial success.

Produced as a collaboration between Anthill Studios and first-time producer Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao, the film delves into the gripping narrative of a king facing banishment unless he produces a male heir, leading to upheaval in his kingdom. Co-directed by Adebayo Tijani and Odunlade Adekola, who also stars as the king, the film boasts an ensemble cast featuring acclaimed actors such as Sola Sobowale,

Femi Adebayo, and Mercy Aigbe. “Beast of Two Worlds” continues the tradition of indigenous epics in Nollywood, following in the footsteps of hits like “Aníkúlápó,” “King of Thieves,” “Òrìṣà,” and “Jagun Jagun.”
