Former beauty queen and reality TV star Beauty Tukura has finally broken her silence about her past relationship with fellow Big Brother Naija alum, Neo Akpofure.
In a candid conversation with media personality Toke Makinwa on Toke Moments, the 27-year-old Afe Babalola University graduate reflected on their time together and shared her thoughts on relationships in the public eye. While the romance may have ended, Beauty described it as a fulfilling experience.
“There was nothing to hide,” she revealed. “I was happy being with him at the time.” She acknowledged that while their relationship was beautiful while it lasted, she has since moved on.
When asked whether she would ever consider dating publicly again, she was quick to dismiss the idea. “Honestly, no,” she stated firmly, emphasizing that her past relationships before Neo were always private, and she preferred it that way.
Explaining her preference for private relationships, Beauty highlighted the importance of maintaining boundaries. “I think it’s just better when it’s private because there’s no extra opinion,” she said. “But when you have a public relationship, it’s like we are plenty.”
She elaborated on how external voices—from families to fans—often interfere when a relationship is in the spotlight. “There’s his family; there’s my family. And then there’s the whole world in it,” she added, pointing out how overwhelming it can become.
Beauty also addressed the impact of Big Brother Naija’s passionate fanbase on her personal life. She acknowledged that supporters of the reality show often form strong opinions about housemates’ relationships, sometimes making things more complicated.
“And you know Big Brother, these fanbases: they are very passionate,” she noted. “And it’s a whole different approach. Sometimes it’d be easier if they don’t see things as black and white but as normal.”
At the core of her message, Beauty emphasized that despite being in the public eye, reality TV stars are just regular people navigating life like everyone else. “Because, at the end of the day, we are normal people; we are just out there,” she said, hoping that people would understand that not every aspect of their lives needs to be scrutinized.
While she appreciates the love and support from fans, she firmly believes in the value of keeping certain parts of her life private.
