SABC1 has announced the return of the beloved TV show Khumbul’Ekhaya, which is set to debut its new season on Wednesday, August 18, at 9 p.m. The show, cherished for its focus on healing and reconciliation within South African families, will once again feature Andile Gaelisiwe as the host, a role she has held since 2006.
Joining her this season is popular media personality and radio host Samora Mangesi, who will serve as a field presenter.
Mangesi, who previously hosted SABC1’s now-canceled show Real Goboza, marks his return to television with this role after a hiatus since 2021.
Mangesi, who remains a prominent figure on the radio with his shows on uMhlobo Wenene FM and TruFM, has had his share of controversies. In 2022, he was suspended from uMhlobo Wenene after allegations surfaced that he had come to work intoxicated, which he denied, despite listener complaints that he seemed off during a broadcast.
Khumbul’Ekhaya, known for addressing critical socio-economic issues like abuse, addiction, poverty, and family breakdowns, continues to resonate deeply with audiences.
The series is renowned for its emotional storytelling, as it follows South Africans on their journeys to reconnect with long-lost and estranged family members. The show’s mix of heart-wrenching and heartwarming moments encourages viewers to reflect on their family relationships and seek positive changes in their own lives.
