Beyoncé has made history by becoming the first black artist to achieve a number one country album in the UK with her eighth record, “Cowboy Carter.” Additionally, her album’s lead single, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” has returned to the top spot on the singles chart for a fifth non-consecutive week.
This achievement follows in the footsteps of Shania Twain, who was the first female country artist to top the UK albums chart in 1999. Surprisingly, Dolly Parton, despite her extensive career, has never achieved a number one single or album in the UK. This marks Beyoncé’s second UK charts double, reminiscent of her success in 2003 with “Crazy In Love” and “Dangerously In Love.”

Furthermore, she has multiple tracks from “Cowboy Carter” in the singles top 10, including a cover of Parton’s “Jolene” and a duet with Miley Cyrus titled “II Most Wanted.” Official Charts CEO Martin Talbot praised Beyoncé’s achievements, suggesting she has temporarily claimed the title of “Queen of Country” from Parton.
Beyoncé’s cover of The Beatles’ civil rights-inspired song “Blackbird” has garnered praise from Sir Paul McCartney, who lauded her for reinforcing the song’s message. Parton herself has expressed excitement over Beyoncé’s foray into country music.
