Nollywood filmmaker Biodun Stephen has released the trailer for her upcoming comedy-drama film, “Muri & Ko,” which stars Kunle Remi, Bisola Aiyeola, and KieKie.
The movie is set to premiere in cinemas on June 12, 2024. In an Instagram post on May 20, 2024, Stephen encouraged fans to watch the trailer and join her for the film’s release in June.
“Muri & Ko” follows the story of Muri, a thief portrayed by Kunle Remi, who steals a car only to find a child, played by Fiyinfoluwa Asenuga, inside.
Despite a ₦10 million bounty on his head and evading the police for kidnapping, Muri forms a close bond with the child. The film is directed by Stephen and produced in collaboration with Mo’ Fakorede, Inkblot Productions, and FilmOne Studios.
This project marks the second collaboration between Stephen and Inkblot Productions, following their successful romantic family drama “Big Love,” which featured Bimbo Ademoye and Timini Egbuson and ranked among the top 30 films on Prime Video in 2023.
“Muri & Ko” also includes performances by Bucci Franklin, Gloria Anozie-Young, Charles Okocha, Femi Jacobs, and Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori.
Stephen, who began her filmmaking career in 2014 with “The Visit,” is renowned for her heartwarming films such as “Strangers,” “Breaded Life,” “Introducing the Kujus,” “A Simple Lie,” and “Sista.”
Her film “Sista” won the Audience and Jury awards for Best Movie at the Nollywood Film Festival in Paris in 2022.
