Nigerian crossdresser and socialite, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, widely known as Bobrisky, recently shared a shocking experience on social media, revealing that he had fallen victim to an online romance scam.

In a post on Instagram, Bobrisky expressed his disbelief and disappointment after losing $990 to a fraudster. He admitted that he never imagined he would be scammed, considering his large online presence and awareness of various types of scams.

The revelation stunned many of his followers, who had always seen him as someone who could easily avoid such tricks due to his public persona.

The scam began when the fraudster initially reached out to Bobrisky through direct messages on social media.

According to Bobrisky, the scammer pretended to be a man genuinely interested in him, and they began a lengthy online relationship.

I never thought in my life I would be a client to anybody. This guy came to my DM, and we got talking — close to a few months now. He calls me almost every day. He said he lived in the USA but moved to Canada,” Bobrisky explained.

Over time, the scammer maintained regular communication, building what seemed like a sincere connection, which made Bobrisky feel comfortable enough to trust him.

The situation took a turn when Bobrisky was contacted by a legitimate client from the U.S. who wanted to make a payment for an advertisement.

The client intended to send the deposit via CashApp, and Bobrisky thought it would be a good idea to ask his new online acquaintance for help receiving the payment.

Few weeks later, someone in the USA reached out for ads. She said she needed a Cash App to pay her deposit, and I asked this guy talking to me. He said he would give me his own,” Bobrisky shared.

At this point, he believed that the scammer was genuinely trying to help.

However, things quickly went south after the scammer received the payment. Once the fraudster had received the deposit, Bobrisky was immediately blocked on all platforms.

As soon as he got the money, he blocked me immediately,” Bobrisky said, visibly frustrated and betrayed by the experience.

He had never expected that a person with whom he had been talking for months would turn out to be a scammer, and the realization hit him hard.

In his post, Bobrisky shared screenshots of their conversations, as well as a photo of the alleged scammer, hoping to warn his followers about the dangers of online fraud.

He encouraged his fans to be cautious and vigilant, especially when engaging with people they meet online.

Please be careful who you trust online, because not everyone has good intentions,” Bobrisky cautioned.

His post was a reminder that even those who are experienced in the online world are not immune to the tactics of scammers.

Through this ordeal, Bobrisky learned a valuable lesson about trust and online interactions. While he has often been a figure known for his confidence and boldness on social media, this experience humbled him and reminded him of the risks that exist in the digital space.

Despite the financial loss, he used the incident as an opportunity to educate his followers, hoping that they would learn from his mistake and avoid similar traps.
