The Nollywood film Farmer’s Bride has achieved remarkable success, becoming the second highest-grossing movie with ₦37.1 million in its opening weekend.

The film also holds the title for the highest opening weekend for an 18-rated Nollywood film in 2024, as well as the fourth-highest Nollywood opening weekend overall for the year.

The movie’s success has been celebrated by the filmmakers, encouraging more viewers to experience the cinematic journey in theaters nationwide.

They wrote:

Farmer’s Bride, set in 1980s Ibadan, tells the compelling story of Odun, a wealthy but lonely farmer, who marries a young bride named Funmi. Their marriage, however, faces significant challenges as Funmi struggles to find happiness in the relationship.

She eventually embarks on a forbidden affair with Odun’s nephew, leading to a haunting narrative filled with themes of love, betrayal, and the supernatural. The film blends emotional depth with mystical elements, making it a gripping tale for audiences.

Released on September 27, 2024, the film has captivated viewers with its dramatic storyline and standout performances from its talented cast.

Among the actors are Tobi Bakre, known for Gangs of Lagos, Gbubemi Ejeye from Far From Home, Femi Branch from House of Gaa, Mercy Aigbe from Ada Omo Mummy, Efe Irele from L.I.F.E, and Wumi Toriola from Aburo.
