A feud has erupted between Grammy-winning Afrobeats artist Damini “Burna Boy” Ogulu and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest.

The tension began when Burna Boy took to his Instagram Story, posting a cryptic message in Pidgin English that many interpreted as a jab at the socialite. “No forget say u be Azaman o and dem don gbe your plug wey him name na ‘Omo Igbo’ for ATL and na u be next. #OwerriRickyrozay,” Burna Boy wrote, sparking online speculation and heated reactions.

Responding swiftly, Cubana Chief Priest accused Burna Boy of owing a London jeweler and made further pointed remarks about the singer’s relationship with American producer P. Diddy, who is currently embroiled in allegations of sex trafficking.

“Diddy oil the fastest way to PTSD, you never see anything. You & your Bend down collect Grammy,” Chief Priest fired back, making a direct reference to Burna Boy’s Grammy win and perceived connections in the music industry.

Cubana Chief Priest, who is a known associate of Burna Boy’s rival Davido, didn’t stop there. Revisiting his Snapchat memories, he shared photos of Burna Boy performing at his birthday party in 2018, claiming he paid the artist ₦1 million to perform as a backup act.

“2018 na 1m naira I pay you to perform as back-up artist for my birthday. I get pictures & videos where you dey perform for me,” he stated. The socialite further described Burna Boy as “Owerri Rick Ross,” adding, “We don dey chop this money before you meet us for queue. Be humble, small boy.”

To emphasize his point, Chief Priest posted an old video of Burna Boy asking for a slice of his birthday cake, calling him “begi begi” (Pidgin for someone who begs frequently).

“What a blessing!!!! See where dem dey rate me put. Me & Rosay #CpNosmall,” he wrote, suggesting that he had been at the top of the social ladder long before Burna Boy’s rise to global fame.

The feud quickly gained traction online, with fans and critics weighing in on the escalating war of words. Many questioned the need for such public exchanges, given the stature of both parties. While Burna Boy is a globally recognized artist, Cubana Chief Priest has built his brand as a high-profile businessman and entertainer.

Despite the back-and-forth, neither side showed signs of backing down, leaving fans to wonder how the rivalry might impact future collaborations or events. With tensions high and social media serving as the battlefield, the rift between Burna Boy and Cubana Chief Priest highlights the power dynamics and ego clashes that sometimes play out behind the scenes of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
