The remix of “Twala Bam,” a viral hit by rising South African sensations Titom and Yuppe featuring Burna Boy and S.N.E has top Nigeria’s biggest music chart. In the chart week of May 17-23, 2024, the remix climbed six places to reach the top of the TurnTable Top 100, marking a historic achievement.
Titom and Yuppe became the first South African artists and only the second non-Nigerian lead acts to achieve this feat, following Gyakie’s success with her “Forever” remix featuring Omah Lay.
Released on May 13, 2024, the “Twala Bam” remix has achieved commercial success on streaming platforms and radio. During the charting week, it was the most streamed song on YouTube Nigeria, with 697,000 streams, bolstered by its music video.
The song has also become one of the most viral tracks on TikTok in 2024, transitioning from an underground South African hit to an international sensation due to its popular dance steps.
Originally, Nigerian superstar Davido was considered for the remix and even teased his verse, but the plan was abandoned without explanation. Subsequently, Grammy winner Burna Boy was brought on board for the remix, enhancing the song’s appeal and success.
