Nigerian filmmaker Cheta Chukwu has been selected for the prestigious 2024 Torino Film Lab’s (TFL) Extended Writer-Director Program in the Netherlands.He continues to make waves in the global film industry.

This program, hosted by the Turin-based laboratory, supports emerging talents working on their first or second fiction feature film.

Chukwu’s inclusion further solidifies his position in the international filmmaking scene, highlighting his growing influence and recognition.The TFL provides a comprehensive platform for filmmakers, offering training, development, funding, and distribution support.

Its extensive network and resources, including events like the TFL Meeting Event and co-production market, enhance opportunities for collaboration and exposure.

Chukwu’s participation in this program signifies a pivotal moment in his career, allowing him to refine his skills and connect with industry professionals on a global scale.

The residential workshop, scheduled from June 20 to June 25, 2024, in Amsterdam, will be followed by online sessions over the subsequent two months, ensuring continued engagement and learning.

This immersive experience offers Chukwu invaluable insights and guidance as he navigates the complexities of filmmaking and develops his new project, “Love is a Deeper Shade of Red.”

Chukwu gained prominence with his acclaimed comedy film “Payday” in 2018, captivating audiences across Nigeria and nine francophone countries.

The film’s success, including distribution on major platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, established Chukwu as a versatile storyteller with a knack for engaging narratives.
