The backlash included personal attacks and threats, which ultimately led to her withdrawal. Following this, the National Director of Miss Universe Nigeria, Guy Murray-Bruce, invited her to compete in Nigeria’s pageant, offering her a new platform to showcase her talents.
Despite being away from Nigeria for 20 years, Adetshina expressed a strong desire to reconnect with her roots and immerse herself in Nigerian culture. The Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, a recent spin-off from the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant, hosted 24 contestants at the Festival Hotel in Festac, Lagos, where Adetshina ultimately emerged victorious.
