Conservationist and TV presenter Simon Cowell, known for hosting Wildlife SOS has passed away at the age of 72. He did ed after a courageous battle with cancer.
Surrounded by his daughters, partner, and dogs, Cowell died peacefully on Sunday. The Wildlife Aid Foundation, which he founded, honored him as a dedicated advocate for wildlife protection and environmental causes.
Cowell devoted his life to British wildlife, working tirelessly to rescue, treat, and rehabilitate injured and orphaned animals, ensuring they had a second chance in the wild.
Cowell’s journey into wildlife conservation began in the early 1980s as a distraction from his job as a London broker, eventually becoming his full-time passion.
He established the Wildlife Aid charity, now the Wildlife Aid Foundation, in 1987. He gained wider recognition through the television series Wildlife SOS on Channel 5 and appearances on Animal Planet in the 1990s.
In July 2022, Cowell revealed his terminal lung cancer diagnosis and initiated an appeal for a new wildlife center, raising over £650,000. The center will feature diverse habitats, a visitor’s center, and a new wildlife hospital.
In recognition of his services to wildlife, Cowell was awarded an MBE in 2005. He is survived by his daughters, Louisa and Gemma, his partner Stana, and his dogs, Toby and Bobby.
