Afrobeats star, Davido, has opened up about his decision to take a break from expanding his family.
The father of five shared that he and his wife, Chioma, have decided to pause childbearing for now, explaining that Chioma deserves some time to focus on her career and personal goals.
In a recent appearance on the show Ride Along With Darryl, Davido revealed that the couple is not planning on having more children at the moment.
“I don’t want more children now. Me and my wife are taking a break,” Davido said during the interview. He emphasized that Chioma has already had three children and deserves a chance to pursue her passions and ambitions outside of motherhood.
He added, “She needs to get out to work. She wants to do a lot of things like opening her restaurant and launching her spices.” For Davido, giving Chioma the space to follow her dreams is a priority at this stage in their lives.
The couple’s decision comes after they welcomed a set of twins, a boy and a girl, in 2023, following the heartbreaking loss of their first son, Ifeanyi, who tragically passed away in a swimming pool accident the previous year.
The birth of their twins brought joy and healing, but Davido is now focused on supporting Chioma in her entrepreneurial and professional endeavors, allowing her the time she needs to flourish in her own right.
As they take a break from expanding their family, the couple’s attention is turned toward their individual goals. Chioma, in particular, is excited about venturing into new business opportunities, including opening her own restaurant and launching a line of spices.
Davido’s decision to support her in this next chapter reflects their shared commitment to balancing family life with personal growth and career ambitions.
