Nigerian megastar Davido, renowned for his role in popularizing Afrobeats on the global stage, was in Ethiopia on September 11, 2024, to entertain fans as the country celebrated the start of their new year, 2017.
Ethiopia follows the Orthodox Tewahedo calendar, which runs seven years behind the globally used Gregorian calendar.
Davido performed to a sold-out crowd, delivering a set of his most popular hits, including tracks from his fourth album Timeless, which has been a record-breaking success. His performance in Ethiopia was a significant highlight as the country welcomed a new year with his music.
Before his Ethiopia performance, Davido had also performed at an event in Saint Tropez, France, which was attended by high-profile guests such as Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola. During his stay in France, Davido met with a Saudi Prince, proudly introducing himself as the “King of Nigeria.”
