Davido one of Afrobeats’ most reliable hitmakers, has once again demonstrated his prowess by propelling the remix of ‘Ogechi’ to the top of the TurnTable Nigeria Top 100.
The Grammy nominee joined the remix of the trending single, which had already gained popularity on TikTok, leading to its ascent to the chart’s summit.
Released on June 26, 2024, just a day after Davido’s widely publicized wedding, the remix quickly garnered 6.76 million on-demand streams and 49.3 million radio impressions during the chart week of June 28 – July 4, making it the most streamed and most heard song on the radio that week.
The ‘Ogechi’ remix, featuring Brown Joel, Boypee, and Hyce alongside Davido, outperformed Burna Boy’s ‘Higher,’ which took the second spot.
Olamide’s ‘Metaverse’ from his new EP ‘Ikigai’ surged to No. 3, while Rema’s ‘Benin Boys’ featuring Shallipopi and Central Cee’s ‘Wave’ featuring Asake dropped to No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
With the ‘Ogechi’ remix reaching No. 1 on the TurnTable Nigeria Top 100, Davido reaffirms his status as one of Afrobeats’ most prolific hitmakers. This achievement marks his second No. 1 hit of 2024, following his collaboration on Kizz Daniel’s ‘Twe Twe’ remix.
