On November 30, acclaimed Amapiano artist Uncle Waffles was slated to perform live in Kenya at the ASK Dome. Unfortunately, her highly anticipated performance was abruptly canceled due to what has been described as poor event management.

According to reports, chaos ensued at the venue, resulting in the use of teargas to disperse the crowd. The disruption not only marred the event but also left fans and artists deeply disappointed.

Taking to social media, Uncle Waffles did not hold back in expressing her frustration with the organisers of the event, titled For The Love of Amapiano. She highlighted the failures in safety and logistics, which endangered both the artists and the concertgoers.

“I am extremely disappointed and shattered by the way For The Love of Amapiano handled this event, which is something I have been looking forward to for a while,” she shared. Her statement reflected the depth of her dismay, especially given the anticipation surrounding her performance.

Waffles elaborated on the issues she faced, mentioning technical glitches and mistreatment of her team. “From sound issues even before my performance to my team being mishandled, this wasn’t something I expected at all,” she said.

These challenges, coupled with the chaos at the venue, cast a shadow over what was meant to be a celebration of Amapiano music. Her disappointment was palpable as she called for accountability and better management.

Her concern extended beyond her own experience to the treatment of her fans. Waffles condemned the actions of the security team, who she claimed mistreated attendees. “I was even more disappointed at how the security handled my fans, who were pushed around,” she said, urging the organisers to take responsibility.

She emphasized the importance of creating a safe and enjoyable environment for fans, noting the emotional and physical toll the chaotic event had on them.

Directing her criticism at the organisers, Waffles did not mince words about the gravity of their shortcomings. “To the event organisers, you have not only disappointed me but you have also let down 10,000+ people who came out in support of this event,” she said.

Her message was clear: if the organisers intended to continue hosting events, significant improvements were needed. Her candid remarks underscored the responsibility event planners have to ensure safety and professionalism.

While the event organisers have yet to address the incident publicly, Waffles’ fans have rallied behind her, voicing their support and disappointment. Many expressed hope for another opportunity to see her perform in Kenya under better circumstances.

The incident has sparked discussions on the importance of event planning and the need for higher standards to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
