Renowned radio on-air personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, popularly known as Do2dtun, has officially announced his departure from radio after an illustrious 20-year career.

Sharing the news via his Instagram page, the vibrant media icon reflected on his journey from an eager intern to a household name, cementing his legacy in the Nigerian broadcasting industry. With heartfelt words, Do2dtun took his fans on an emotional walk through his two decades of shaping the airwaves.

“This must be one of the hardest decisions I have made,” he began. “I am fulfilled in my heart that I built a legacy. Oh my sweet home, @coolfmlagos accepted me Nov 1st, 2004 as an intern—dusty, unprepared, and knew absolutely nothing about radio.

The announcement was filled with gratitude as he recalled his early days under the mentorship of radio legends such as the late Dan Foster, Olisa Adibua, and Daddy Freeze, who helped him discover his footing. “I was this kid with fear, doubtful, but my hands were held by one of my most selfless colleagues ever,” he shared.

“From Dan Foster (RIP), ‘AUNTY B,’ @daddyfreeze, @mannieessien, @estheroyegue, @tallestmessiah (my guy and mesuyah partner 😂), @ruccibella, @olisaadibua… You were the first set of guys that gave me the little light to grow after GOD.”

During his career, Do2dtun not only became a mainstay on Cool FM but also played a transformative role in Nigerian radio culture. Reflecting on his contributions, he proudly stated, “Creating shows like ‘Cool Nigerian Vibe,’ ‘Superstar Wednesday,’ and ‘Office Concert’ gave radio a lift from just foreign music to 70% Nigerian music and content. It was a win for us all.”

He credited these programs with shifting the industry’s focus to local talent, thus revitalizing the airwaves and celebrating Nigerian creativity. “I can’t even explain my journey because it’s a lot,” he continued. “It was a rollercoaster of the good, the bad, the awesome, and the ugly.”

Do2dtun’s post exuded gratitude not only for his colleagues but also for the leadership at Cool FM, who entrusted him with opportunities that defined his career. “I revamped Nigerian airwaves, and for that, I am grateful to the leadership that believed in me,” he said. His tenure saw countless moments of innovation, all driven by his passion for media and his determination to make an impact.

Concluding his announcement, Do2dtun expressed a mix of emotions as he prepared for the next chapter of his life. “This isn’t goodbye—it’s a new phase. To everyone who tuned in, cheered me on, and supported my journey, I owe it all to you.”

While his departure marks the end of an era, his contributions to Nigerian radio have left an indelible mark, and fans eagerly await what’s next for the multifaceted media personality.
