The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has postponed the release of her upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, due to the devastation caused by the wildfires in California, according to an announcement from the streaming platform.
Originally scheduled to premiere on January 15, the eight-part series will now debut on March 4. The decision reflects Meghan’s deep concern for the affected communities and her commitment to supporting relief efforts in her home state.
In a statement to Tudum, Netflix’s official companion site, Meghan expressed her gratitude to the streaming giant for accommodating the delay. “I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” she said. Her statement highlighted the importance of prioritizing the immediate needs of those affected over her personal projects.
On Friday, Meghan and Prince Harry visited Pasadena, one of the areas hit hardest by the wildfires. During their visit, they comforted evacuees and distributed food alongside volunteers.
The couple also met with Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo and emergency responders battling the Eaton Fire. Their presence was warmly received by the community, offering moments of solace to those who had lost so much.
Footage captured Meghan, wearing a blue “LA” baseball cap, alongside Prince Harry as they hugged evacuees and provided words of encouragement. They also spent time speaking with Doug Goodwin, a resident whose home was destroyed in the fires.
Additionally, they met with José Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen (WCK), which has been instrumental in providing meals to both evacuees and emergency crews.
The couple’s empathy and hands-on involvement were praised by those they encountered. In addition to their visit, Meghan and Harry donated essential supplies, including clothing and children’s items, to families impacted by the disaster. Their efforts underscored their ongoing commitment to humanitarian causes, particularly those affecting their local community.
Meanwhile, the Netflix series With Love, Meghan promises a blend of practical advice and candid conversations. According to Tudum’s website, the series will feature Meghan sharing personal tips and tricks, focusing on “playfulness over perfection.” The show’s description reads:
“She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, inviting viewers to embrace beauty in the unexpected.” The series is expected to offer an intimate look at Meghan’s life while encouraging creativity and connection.
The couple’s home in Montecito, located near Santa Barbara and about 90 miles from Los Angeles, has placed them close to the wildfire-affected regions. This proximity has likely deepened their sense of responsibility to help their neighbors. Their public engagement, coupled with their private donations, highlights their proactive approach to aiding those in need.
In a joint statement released on Thursday, Meghan and Harry urged the public to support those affected by the wildfires. They encouraged people to open their homes to evacuees and to donate generously to relief organizations.
“Together, we can make a difference,” their statement concluded, reflecting their steadfast dedication to providing relief and fostering unity in the face of tragedy.
