The family of iconic singer Onyeka Onwenu has announced that her remains will be laid to rest before the end of this month. This announcement was made on Tuesday during a condolence visit from the Musical Society of Nigeria (MCSN) at Onwenu’s residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Onwenu, a member of MCSN, passed away suddenly last Tuesday after performing at the 80th birthday party of Chief Stella Okoli, owner of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

During the visit, Onwenu’s sons, Abram and Tjiani, expressed their intention to honor their late mother’s wishes by committing her remains to the earth as soon as possible.

Although no specific date has been set, they confirmed that the burial would take place before the month’s end, with further details to be announced soon.

At the condolence visit, King Sunny Ade (KSA) expressed his sorrow in the condolence register, noting that Onwenu’s fans and friends worldwide would remember her forever.

The delegation also included flutist Tee Mac, who promised to perform at her service of songs, as well as Kenny Ogugbe and Mayo Ayilaran, General Manager of MCSN, among others.
