Nollywood filmmaker Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen announced that the sequel to the 2001 blockbuster “Issakaba” has just completed production.
In an interview with Channels TV on May 30, 2024, Imasuen shared that the filming wrapped up after he returned from a three-month rest to finalize the project.
He confirmed that “Issakaba” will be released very soon.Imasuen explained that the film was remade to reflect the current realities in Nigeria, highlighting that the issues addressed in the original movie still persist and have even worsened.
He emphasized the necessity of reintroducing “Issakaba” to contemporary audiences to resonate with the ongoing challenges.
The sequel was first announced in January 2024, with a star-studded cast including Chidi Mokeme, Phyna, Iyabo Ojo, Alex Osifo, Regina Daniel, Francis Onwochei, Charles Okafor, Chiwetalu Agu, Ben Olaye, Chudi Kashimawo, and Mark Angel.
The story continues to follow the Issakaba Boys, led by Ebube, as they combat armed robbers who use mystical powers in their criminal activities, necessitating the Issakaba Boys to acquire similar powers to fight back.
Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, a veteran in the Nollywood industry since 1995, has directed numerous films including “The Last Burial,” “Games Men Play,” “Invasion 1897,” “ABCs of Death 2,” and “Enakhe.”
