The Sikwane and Matladi families have announced the memorial and funeral arrangements for the late Thabiso Sikwane, a beloved TV and radio broadcaster. Thabiso passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, just a few weeks after celebrating her 50th birthday.
In a joint statement, the families invited family, friends, colleagues, and supporters to celebrate and honor Thabiso’s life, recognizing her warm spirit, intelligence, wisdom, and strong Christian faith, which touched many lives. Her untimely passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew her.
The memorial and funeral service for Thabiso will take place on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 3C Ministries Church in Irene, Centurion, beginning at 9:00 am. Attendees are encouraged to dress in African Bright attire, as the family has specifically requested no black clothing for the occasion.
The service will be an opportunity for loved ones to come together and celebrate her life and legacy. Following the memorial, there will be a private cremation ceremony held at a later date, with only close family in attendance.
In their statement, the family included the comforting scripture from John 14, which reads: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms… I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
This passage reflects Thabiso’s deep faith and the sense of peace her loved ones hope to find in her passing, knowing that she is in a better place.
Thabiso’s ex-husband, DJ Fresh, shared his grief in an emotional Instagram video following her passing. He mentioned that while it is suspected she may have died from a cardiac arrest, the exact cause of death remains unclear.
The family is awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to provide clarity on what led to her sudden and unexpected death, as the loss has left many in shock.
