Genesis Pictures and Silverbird Distribution have partnered in a co-distribution agreement for The Waiter, the latest action-comedy from renowned comedian and filmmaker Ayo ‘A.Y’ Makun. Produced by Corporate World Entertainment, the film blends Nigerian entertainment with a deep dive into socio-political issues.

This collaboration between Genesis and Silverbird is seen as an innovative step in the Nigerian film industry, aiming to expand the film’s reach to global audiences while setting new benchmarks for film distribution in Nigeria.

In a joint statement, Genesis Pictures’ Nnaeto Orazulike highlighted the goal of taking Nigerian films to international audiences, while Silverbird’s Isabella Okechukwu noted that this partnership would revolutionize film distribution in the country, creating new revenue opportunities.

Ayo Makun expressed his gratitude for the collaboration, describing it as a major leap forward for Nigerian film distribution. The partnership, tagged the “Gensilver deal,” is expected to significantly reshape the landscape of Nollywood’s cinema, putting Genesis and Silverbird in a competitive position with industry giant FilmOne.

The Gensilver deal could herald a new era of cooperation and innovation within Nollywood, ensuring fair revenue distribution and fostering more collaborative business models.

With Genesis and Silverbird combining their market power, the partnership aims to challenge long-standing industry norms and promote equitable sharing of profits. The collaboration underscores the growing momentum in Nollywood, pushing boundaries and raising the bar for distribution and marketing strategies within the industry.
