Gogo Skhotheni, also known as Tumi Motsoeneng, and her estranged husband Monde Shange, have tragically announced the passing of their two-year-old son, Monde Junior. The Motsoeneng and Shange families confirmed in a statement that Monde Jr passed away at 3 p.m. on Monday, September 2nd, 2024, at Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital.

“Monde Jr departed this life at 3pm on Monday, September 2nd, 2024, at Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital,” the statement reads.

The young child had been battling severe health issues since birth, spending his entire life in intensive care due to a congenital condition that left him without the tube necessary to transport food to his stomach.

Monde Jr’s condition required numerous surgeries and the use of a machine to help him eat, reflecting the immense challenges he faced from birth. Despite the best efforts of his medical team, led by Dr. Flack, and the love and care of his family, Monde Jr’s health struggles proved insurmountable.

Gogo Skhotheni had previously expressed her deep connection to her son, even getting a tattoo in his honor last December, and praised Dr. Flack for her dedication throughout their son’s difficult journey.

The families have asked for privacy during this profoundly painful time as they mourn the loss of their beloved child. They have also shared a verse from Psalm 23:4, seeking comfort in their faith as they navigate this period of grief.

The verse speaks of finding solace even in the darkest of times, a sentiment they are holding onto as they cope with their son’s passing.

In reflecting on her son’s life, Gogo Skhotheni shared the challenges they faced, including the numerous surgeries and the eventual need for a feeding machine due to his inability to eat normally.

Despite the heartache and the difficult path they walked as a family, she acknowledged that life must continue, even in the wake of such a devastating loss.
