Actress and singer Halle Bailey has been granted a restraining order against rapper and YouTube star DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.

The order, issued by a Los Angeles judge, requires Granberry to stay away from Bailey and their one-year-old son until a hearing on June 6.

This decision follows Bailey’s claims of repeated abuse during their relationship.

Bailey, 25, who rose to fame as one half of the musical duo Chloe x Halle and as the star of Disney’s 2023 live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, has alleged that Granberry has been “physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive” towards her.

“Throughout our relationship, Darryl has been and continues to be abusive towards me,” Bailey stated in legal documents reported by the Associated Press.

“I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse.”

According to the documents, Bailey and Granberry’s relationship, which began in 2022, ended in October of last year.

Despite their split, Bailey claims that the abuse continued, escalating into physical violence. One particular incident allegedly occurred in January when Bailey was strapping their child into a car seat.

“We fought each other, wrestling and tussling,” she recalled. “At one point, Darryl was pulling my hair. He then slammed my face on the steering wheel, causing my tooth to get chipped. I then stopped fighting back as I was in a lot of pain.”

The actress submitted photographic evidence, including images of her chipped tooth and bruises on her arms, to support her claims.

These images have since been published by some US media outlets, adding visual weight to her allegations.

Bailey further alleged that two months after the altercation, Granberry entered her home without permission while she was away.

She claims he sent her a photograph of her bed, accompanied by a message suggesting she was involved with other men. Such actions left her feeling threatened and unsafe, she explained.

Another incident allegedly occurred when Granberry arrived to pick up their child for a visit. Bailey claimed she did not want to send their unwell baby with him, which led to a confrontation.

“He smashed the Ring doorbell camera on my porch when he realized it was recording,” she said.

The situation escalated when she called a relative for help, and Granberry allegedly took her phone and slammed a car door on her while she was holding the baby.

Bailey reported this incident to the police, a move that set the stage for the restraining order. The judge’s order also prohibits Granberry from possessing any weapons, a standard condition in such cases.

Depending on the outcome of the June 6 hearing, the order could be extended for up to five years.

Bailey’s court documents also highlighted another disturbing aspect of the conflict: Granberry’s use of social media.

“He claims I am withholding our son and that I am with other men,” she stated. “As a result, I then receive threats and hate on social media.”

Bailey has requested that the court instruct Granberry to cease making defamatory statements about her online.

Granberry, 27, first gained fame in the mid-2010s as a YouTube star before transitioning to a music career. He has since released four studio albums.

Despite his success, his online presence has often been marked by controversy, with his millions of followers closely watching his personal life.

As of now, Granberry’s representatives have not responded to requests for comment.

Bailey’s legal battle has drawn significant media attention, with many observing how the case could impact both her and Granberry’s careers.

As the June 6 hearing approaches, the public remains focused on the outcome of this high-profile conflict.
