Anticipation is high as the second season of House of the Dragon is set to premiere on Showmax and M-Net on June 17, 2024.

The first season, which won an Emmy and was named Best TV Series – Drama at the 2023 Golden Globes and Best TV Series at Rotten Tomatoes’ Golden Tomato Awards, sets high expectations for the upcoming season.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon takes place 200 years before Game of Thrones and focuses on House Targaryen.

The new season will depict the lead-up to a civil war in Westeros, with the Green and Black Councils vying for the throne on behalf of King Aegon and Queen Rhaenyra, respectively. The story is told through two trailers, each reflecting one side of the conflict.

Returning cast members include Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen and Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, alongside Olivia Cooke, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, and Rhys Ifans.

New additions to the cast include BAFTA nominee Abubakar Salim, Gayle Rankin, Freddie Fox, and Kieran Bew. As the realm fractures, audiences are invited to choose their side in the unfolding drama of Season 2.
