A gold bikini worn by Carrie Fisher in “Return of the Jedi” was auctioned for $175,000 (£136,000). This iconic costume, consisting of a bikini top, bikini plates, hip rings, an armlet, and a bracelet, is one of the most famous outfits in film history.
Fisher, who portrayed Princess Leia, initially thought director George Lucas was joking about the costume. She later described feeling “nearly naked” and “very nervous” in it, and had to sit very straight during filming to avoid creases.
The auction, conducted by Heritage Auctions, also featured other notable items. A miniature Starfighter aircraft used in the first Star Wars film sold for $1.5 million (£1.1 million).
Additionally, a wand used by Daniel Radcliffe in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” fetched $52,000, a hammer prop from a Thor film made $81,000, and an outfit worn by Macauley Culkin in the first “Home Alone” film was sold for $47,500.
