Kairo Forbes, daughter of the late Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and DJ Zinhle, has won the Favourite African Kid fluencer award at this year’s Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.
The award was presented during a watch party held at Montecasino, Fourways in Johannesburg, after the ceremony in Santa Monica, California. Kairo expressed her excitement to IOL, saying it felt “amazing” to follow in her late father’s footsteps and “great” to inspire young people.
In 2019, Kairo’s father, AKA, became the first rapper to win the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award for Favourite SA Star. DJ Zinhle, Kairo’s mother, shared her emotional reaction to her daughter’s win, revealing the stress they felt while awaiting the results.
Last year, Kairo also won the Social Media Kid Influencer of the Year award at the South African Social Media Awards.Kairo plans to expand her social media presence with more dancing, skincare, and makeup videos.
She was supported by her grandmother, Lynn, who was emotional as AKA’s song played when Kairo received her award, highlighting the lasting impact of her late father’s legacy.
